Making An Endowment Gift: The Founders Society

Founders Society members have made significant contributions to the Alabama Symphony Endowment, a 501(c)(3) tax - exempt organization, which was established to provide ongoing annual support to the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.

The endowment has a corpus of approximately $12.3 million invested and pledges for another $1 million. Each year, the ASO receives a portion of the interest or earnings from the endowment to use for annual operations.

The corpus for the endowment will never be spent but will generate monies for annual operations for generations to come.

The Endowment Board of Directors has financial oversight of the monies and investments are currently managed by AmSouth Bank, Chase Investment Counsel, Ashford Capital, Third Avenue Management, Pointer Management, UBS Realty Investors, and PIMCO Funds. The officers are: James T. Stephens, President: Dell S. Brooke, Secretary; and Harold L. Abroms, Treasurer. The directors are Charles Perry, Harold I. Apolinsky, Charles G. Brown, III, H. Corbin Day, K. Wood Herren, Charles A. McCallum, Jr., William McDonald, Helen Crowe Mills, Gloria N. Moody, Allen W. Ritchie, Mimi Tynes and A.S. Williams III.
