Jay Burnham
Timpani

Jay Burnham has been the principal timpanist of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra since 1991. He also served as principal timpanist for the ASO from 1987-89 and as percussionist/timpanist of the Cleveland Orchestra from 1989-1991.

A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, he studied with Richard Weiner and Paul Yancich, principal percussionist and principal timpanist, respectively, of the Cleveland Orchestra.

As an educator, Mr. Burnham served as an Instructor of Percussion at Cleveland State University from 1989-1991 and currently serves as an Instructor of Percussion at The University of Montevallo and the Alabama School of Fine Arts.
