Ai-Yi Bao
Violin

Ai-Yi Bao was born in China. She attended the Chinese Central Conservatory in Beijing and studied with Professor Yao-Ji Lin. Prior to coming to the United States in 1985, Ai-Yi Bao was the soloist and associate concertmaster for several years with the Guangzhou Film Company Symphony Orchestra, performing concerts regularly and providing soundtrack music for movies and television productions. She won first prize in the Canton Professional Musicians solo competition.

During the 1985-1986 season, Ms. Bao joined the Savannah Symphony Orchestra and its string quartet. She has been a member of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra since 1986.. Ms. Bao has served on the faculty of the Alabama School of Fine Arts since 1993.

Ms. Bao has performed recitals and was featured as a soloist with the Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra and with the Magic City Orchestra. She served as Concertmaster of the Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra for several years.

In addition to performing, Ai-Yi Bao is interested in the research of teaching. Her students have won numerous awards and scholarships in local, regional and national competitions, as well as leading positions in the Alabama Youth Symphony and Alabama All-State Symphony Orchestra.
