Belinda George-Peoples
Belinda George-Peoples is a native of Birmingham, Alabama, and a third grade teacher with the Birmingham City Board of Education (Minor Elementary School).
Ms. Peoples is a member of Town & Gown Theater (presently, Virginia Samford Theatre), where she has performed in various productions, including: Big River, Ain't Misbehavin, Sophisticated Ladies, and most recently with Summerfest's productions of Smokey Joe's Café, and BEEHIVE, just to name a few.
She has worked with such well known personalities as: Pamela Davis, Jerry Herman, V. Michael McKay, The late Erskine Hawkins, Mercedes Ellington, Margaret Douroux, Hugh Martin, Tramaine Hawkins, Helen Baylor, Gary Oliver, Oleta Adams, and many others. Ms. Peoples has also traveled abroad to such places as Malmo, Sweden, where she performed on National Television and in the Malmo Summer Festival. She has performed at the Chicago White Sox Baseball Game singing the Star Spangled Banner, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., and "A Night In Atlanta" New Year's Eve Festival. Ms. Peoples traveled to Valencia, Spain, with her church choir and were one of the featured soloists on their eight-day tour. Since then, she has performed with her church choir at the National Black Caucus in Washington, D.C. Also, she did her rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at the SWACC Championship and at the Rickwood Classic Baseball Game, in Birmingham, Alabama.
Ms. Peoples is a member of New Hope Baptist Church and sings with the Mass Choir, True Praise & Worshippers, and GMWA B'ham Chapter Mass Choir. She is a born again Christian. Also she is a graduate of West End High School and Alabama State University. She has one son, Terrence Darrel.
Ms. Peoples is one of the featured soloist on the projects of the GMWA Women of Worship “Live in Atlanta, Georgia,” “ GMWA National Mass Live In Los Angeles, California,” “Jesus Is The Name,” “Women of Worship,” “Forever,” and the project for the Birmingham City Board of Education's theme song, For Our Children, For Our Future. She has also performed with the Alabama Symphony Gospel Choir and was one of the featured vocalists.
Belinda enjoys putting a smile on others' faces through her singing or just a kind word or gesture. Loyalty, honesty, diligence, and her love for Jesus are among the essential ingredients in her life.
