Keith Cromwell

Keith Cromwell

Keith Cromwell is delighted to be a catalyst in the synergistic effort towards uniting the three "premiere" arts agencies in Birmingham on one stage. Keith serves as the Producing Artistic Director for Summerfest Musical Theatre, and his directing and choreography credits to date here in Birmingham include: Grease, Footloose, and Smokey Joe's Cafe, The Songs of Leiber and Stoller, Sentimental Journey: The Rosemary Clooney Songbook, Forever Plaid, and Beehive. In New York, he associate directed and choreographed the new Off-Broadway show Pete-N-Keely featuring Phyllis Diller, Jo Anne Worley and Charo. Keith served as show supervisor and associate choreographer for the Off-Broadway production of Howard Crabtree's When Pigs Fly!, which won the Drama Desk, Obie, Outer Critics Circle and American Theatre Wing awards. He then went on to recreate the show in Los Angeles, where he won the Backstage West Garland Award and was nominated for Ovation and Drama Critics Circle awards for Best Choreography. His production of Cabaret at Trinity University won seven Alamo Arts Council Awards including Best Musical. Other critically acclaimed director roles include productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Damn Yankees, and Peter Pan, as well as creating, directing and choreographing shows for various theme parks and cruise ships around the world. Keith's artistic vision and commitment to the mission statement of Summerfest bring a renewal of spirit and enthusiasm to the program. Mr. Cromwell wishes to express his appreciation for the courage and generosity of his fellow visionaries on this project: Mr. Paul Ferrone, Mr. Chris Confessore, Mr. Wes Chapman, and Mr. Roger Van Fleteren.
