ASO FACTS
- 2006/2007 is the Alabama Symphony Orchestra's tenth season.
- Maestro Justin Brown now leads the ASO as the Elton B. Stephens Music Director and Principal Conductor beginning with the 2006-2007 Season.
- Christopher Confessore is Resident Conductor.
- The Alabama Symphony Orchestra will perform over 150 concerts in 2006-2007.
- The ASO has nine concert series: Regions MasterWorks, Alabama Symphony POPS! presented by Regions Financial Corporation, Coffee Concerts presented by BellSouth Yellowpages.com, Compass Bank Sounds for Summer, Protective Life Corporation symphony@7, Montevallo, Red Diamond Family Concerts and Concertmaster & Friends.
- Special concerts include Symphony Spooktacular at the Birmingham Zoo, Messiah, The New Year’s Eve Concert, Reflect & Rejoice: A Community Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, and the annual Mother's Day Concert.
- Each year, the Symphony plays more than 15 free concerts.
- The Symphony also performs with Opera Birmingham and the Alabama Ballet.
- The Symphony's annual operating budget is $6 million.
- The Symphony has an endowment of approximately $12 million.
- The Symphony employs 72 people (54 musicians and 18 administrative staff).
- ASO's Young People's Concerts attract thousands of students each year throughout the state.
- Community Outreach Program performances reach more than 14,000 people annually at schools, churches, hospitals, retirement homes and other public places.
- ASO Around Alabama bring the talented musicians of our orchestra to perform in cities and venues throughout our state, including Demopolis, Enterprise, Florence, and Tuscaloosa.
- The ASO Summer Concerts are performed in Birmingham at Caldwell Park and Music at McClellan in Anniston.
